Epsom runner-up Treasure Beach went one better in the Irish version to complete a 1-2-3 for trainer Aidan O'Brien, who won the Curragh showpiece for a sixth successive season.

Galileo has now been responsible for siring 3 of the last 5 Irish Derby winners. Soldier of Fortune in 2007, Cape Blanco in 2010, and Treasure Beach in 2011. And lest we forget, he spawned the beast that is Frankel as well. Galileo is truly carrying on that incredible Sadler's Wells gene for turf offspring!! What a magnificent sire he is !!

I don't think Carlton House disgraced himself by any means in the Epsom or Irish Derby this season. Ran a very creditable race in both. But that said, I really believe time will prove he's a better horse at 10f than he is at 12f. I think SMS should be looking to point Carlton House toward the top 10f G1 races in 2012. I.E., Prince of Wales, Juddmonte International, Irish Champion Stakes, and the Champion Stakes. There might even be some 10f G1's in France that would suite Carlton House, too? IMO

All the people who claim that the Queen has such phenomenal knowledge about racing and breeding ought to keep a bit quiet. The hype over Carlton House was merely because the colt belongs to her.
