  • Randy died on January 2, 1997 while trying to save his son in Hawaii, Randy was swept out to sea by the strong currents. All you kids who want to be rock stars had better look and listen because Randy California was one mother of a guitar player and Spirit was one hell of a band, way ahead of their time.

  • @1979bobhd People keep talking about Hendrix influenced him, it might have been the other way around.

  • singer kinda reminded me of something spinal tap would do:"clap your hands! romania! czech republic! Turkestan! russia! unkraine! iran and iraq-come together! afghanistan and taliban! georgian republic!"

  • @MrDavearama Hear, hear! Oh, and good information re Ed the drummer (born in the '20s -- WOW!).

  • Man this band was a big fucking deal back in the day in Calif. Natures way was a monster.

    Love 'em.

  • I love these guys. RIP Randy, man what a player. Ed the drummer is just amazing, as someone mentioned he is from the greatest generation born in the 20's. Saw them perform in 1995 at the Coach House in Ca. Glad I did!.

  • “The Family that Plays Together ” is such a great album…

  • @shirtshine73blitz And he was 55 years old at the time of concert !!! The dude was born in 1923 !!!

  • Yes once again I'm corrected and now know that Ed Cassidy isn't Randy's dad. My mistake thanks for pointing it out.

  • I discovered Spirit 1968 and I am still stunned by their music. I got all their their albums and listen to their music almost every day. Randy C was a great music man and I will always keep him and his music deep in my heart.
