This videoclip and music is about cherry blossoms set to a haiku* by Horst Ludwig (MN, USA). It captures the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms, of youth, and of life in general. The theme is inspired by the old Japanese custom of cherry blossom viewing (hanami) in early spring. The haiku poem also refers to the Heian era novel Tale of Genji.
The Cherry Blossom Shower Song is composed and performed by Beate Conrad.
*A haiku (haikai verse) is a form of Japanese poetry, consisting of 17 moras (or on), in three phrases or lines of 5, 7, and 5 moras (17 syllables) and a season word (kigo). Its current name was given by the Japanese writer Masaoka Shiki at the end of the 19th century.
