I have to say that while Georgio was brilliant and a pioneer, Pete Townshend was doing this type of music in 1971. Listen to the beginning of Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who.

I love this! The record cover shows the original playing time was 15 minutes but this is only 8:16 - what happened to the rest? Was it not very good?

@scotmr That album cover doesn't seem to match this mix at all, according to discogs there's a version released in 1977 that matches this length except its stated as being 8:15, would link you but of course youtube doesn't allow links in comments...

I disagree with Nord72, the Prophet 5 didn't come around until 1979, this tracks from 1976 (originally). I'd say the bass was ARP2600 or MiniMoog sequencial circuits. The strings sound could be an eminent electric organ or polymoog.

Either way, its one of the pioneers of electronic music that gave birth to a thousand genres around today
