It's awesome watching the ship rock back and forth with the engines firing...it really wants to leave that pad!

@greenseaships No crew aboard. The facility is basically in launch configuration for this so no one is anywhere near the pad during the firing. Pad workers go back out for nominal work after this. Of course, this was the final FRF in the program.

So do they actually have any crew aboard, or was the CAA brought back for pad workers to check out the cockpit afterwords?

I think there've been seven altogether...all five shuttles had the test before their first mission, Challenger had two its first b/c of a problem discovered in the first test, and Discovery had one before the STS-26 Return to Flight mission after the Challenger accident.
