The motto of Navy's Air Rescue Swimmers is "So Others May Live." Get to know these real-life heroes as they describe their intense training, the desire to help others and the excitement of a job like no other.

  • @bizzle370 While on a riverine patrol,an 82' cutter was strafed eight times by our own forces(AF) while in support of Marines in Nam.The CG had the highest percentage of KIA in WWI,lost several thousand in WWII.Fought in all wars.Captured more ships than the Navy in the Quasi-War with France.I spent 6 months in Africa, went to gitmo 4 x,norfolk 4x,been in navy war games 4x.not only trained for rescue but also for war.Just look up the history of the USCGC Dallas. I bet you never served

  • @Jojo123hello naww i dont think so man im going through the program right now and ive never even heard of an officer being able to try the program.

  • @gbuscg You're an idiot you fuckin puddle pirate. Riverines is a rate in the NAVY not the gay ass coast gaurd so stop saying that a bunch of you queers were doing missions with the riverines. Secondly the coast gaurd doesnt do half the shit that the navy does over seas or in the desert so stop glorifying one of the only branches of service that doesnt actually go to war like the rest of us

  • People who ask questions saying I'm this height or this weight stop asking through comments. Do your research like everyone else.

  • @Hector3158 I am currently in the Navy DEP program and I am my job is going to be an AIRR. In my DEP pool we had a guy that didn't have citizenship in the US, but he could still enlist. You would have to go into the Navy as unlisted and the Navy would help get paperwork through quickly. Once in you would probably have to serve a few years at a lower level job, but you would be able to work your way up to AIRR. If you want to know more personal message me.

  • @Hector3158 I don't know all the details but I have a friend joining with me who isn't a US citizen, I hear once you finish basic you are officially a citizen of the United States.

  • @joseph299 Uhh....do some research.USCG is overseas in all wars. They were in the Gulf .One was killed preventing insurgents from blowing up an Oil terminal. In Viet Nam of the 34,000 total personnel in the service approximately 1,000 were in Viet Nam.On cutters doing Fire Support Missions, cutters doing riverine patrols-with several shot-up with KIAs and wounded, and helo rescues. In fact a USCG pilot who was shot down in Laos just had his remains returned from there. I am 60% from my USCG service

  • @Hector3158 um best guess, ask to train with your college swim team, thats the level you need to be at to be a rescue swimmer, otherwise talk with a recruiter, some are ASW, if your serious and ready, talk to them, they usually start giving you a workout

  • @Jojo123hello nope only enlisted, you can be a pilot for them

  • Am I able to be an Air Rescue Swimmer as an Officer?
