How long does it take for a lorikeet to learn to talk?
Cos I have an African Grey Parrot and they are very good talkers and quick at picking things up.

Sorry to hear your bird passed away. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. Our dog Max had to be put down last June 2009. Our hearts were broken. He was 13yrs. old. I hae a lory, green nape, named Nikki and I lover her dearly. Also we have a chocolate lab named Gracie. She is just a year old. I certainly understand how you feel. Condolences, Toronto, Canada.
Very cute video... looks like a happy fellow. Glad to know you are helping these birds.

He is a very cute bird. My heart melts watching that video.
Do you recommend Rainbow Lorikeets as pet's?
Eaglesfaninca 3 years ago
All parrots are wild animals and we can't really recommend that they make good pets. Most families are not equipped to deal with their challenging needs (physical, mental, emotional, social, etc.) which is why there is such a demand for parrot rescues. Lories are more difficult than other birds due to their diet.
The very best way to find a bird is to work with a reputable parrot rescue and find a bird that chooses you -- it may or may not be the species you originally intended!

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit parrot rehabilitation center located near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You can google "Center for Avian Rehabilitation" to find us -- I tried putting our web link up, but YouTube wouldn't let me.
