I guess it's about time I did something interesting on this account...

An old glitch can dramatically decrease the playing time of a game, as shown in this video. The Japanese doesn't make much sense to me, but for anyone wondering, this is the only version of the game that can do this glitch! Now, back to how this run started. I only actually found out about the Doko Kashira Door glitch a few days back, even though it is a pretty old glitch. After I discovered the video on YouTube I searched some non-TASes of the game. I found one video by bobmario511. It was called something like, 'Beating Pokemon Green in under 5:30!'. That's when I decided to run it.

Anyone else may upload this video, provided none of the disclaimers are removed. Anyone who knows of someone who violates these procedures, please contact myself, and that video will be removed, and the person's account will possibly be deleted. In short, don't steal credit for this video.

This run was made on an emulator, with slow speeds, frame-by-frame shooting, and re-recordings. It is not meant to show skill, but rather the game pushed to its limits, because it is purely a form of entertainment.

Yes, the above is from one of SL's Super Mario 64 TAS. I'm way to lazy to write all that out again.

  • so is this a hack or a real game?

  • Real.

  • Pretty good! im pretty certain that manipulating bulbasaurs attacks so that they would miss would save a bit of time.

Besides that, the run was well done

  • I know what you mean, but manipulating one attack can take hours.. I tried for ages and still couldn't get it.

  • Green was a massive commercial success.

  • Really not sure, just appears that pokemon doesn't need precision accuracy as much as Mario 64 does, so it could be done almost as well without the tools

  • How did you do this?...

  • Green sucked red blue yellow good, gold silver awesome

  • Hey Mom I'll be back in about 5 minutes; I'm off to become the Pokemon League Champion.

  • wow a glitch city! and i have no idea how you just did this and i cant find it on the internet hehe

  • The only version that can do it besides Japanese Red, of course.

  • Wow.

  • @Deboogs Not true; they still exist and there are known select glitches which the same results too. There's quite a nifty "fossil conversion glitch", which allows you to obtain the glitch Pokémon which would usually be drawn up as trainers via the Ditto Trick/Extended Mew Trick.

  • what are the difference between green and red, blue and yellow?

was green the first pokemon game?

  • green is messed up (laughs)

even in japan, it didn't do well.

  • At 0:51 you enter a door in a non-optimal way, you should be looking at the exit when you step on the mat to save frames.

You can manipulate Bulbasaur's DVs to get its HP to 19, letting Charmander finish the battle in 3 turns with a max dmg hit and two max crits.

Bulbasaur's tackle can miss, so you should manipulate it to miss, as it's faster than hitting Charmander.
