Most players find them to be a boring "vanilla" chapter, and GW's promoting them to hell and back doesn't help matters. Despite the fact that the Ultramarines never even made it to Terra during the Horus Heresy, were absent during the Age of Apostasy, were absent from all 3 Wars of Armaggedon, and supposedly were responsible for unleashing the C'tan Nightbringer upon the galaxy, the Ultramarines are still hailed in their Codex as the best fucking chapter ever to exist ever.
