Dave Brown Cross Checks Thomas Sandstrom in the face

This is just a brutal cross check by the Flyers Dave Brown on the Rangers' Thomas Sandstrom that took place at MSG in NY on 10/26/87. This happened to be Ron Hextall's first game back after his 8 g...

I loved brownie as a fighter but that was awful, just a total lack of respect for a fellow player..

lol "play dead" he was crosschecked in the face. I wish Dave Brown would've gone up there and crosschecked them in the face. Cause I think even him would be upset for that quote lol.

acting school? the flyers announcers were probably second behind the boston ones as homers. Why did he do that to the neck and head with the stick?

P.S. Flyers never fight their own battles. Always interference, potties on heads, or other cheap tactics. Squared up and no helmets aor interference Gillies would have destroyed Brown!

He did it because Sandstrom was a dirt bag. I won't disagree that was a little over the top but if you saw the rest of the game and the history between the two you can understand where it came from.

But "Flyers never fight their own battles"? LOL. So who fights their battles for them? There are PLENTY of videos of Brown as well and MANY other Flyers fighting "their own battles" on YT. Brown was one tough S.O.B. and for you to deny it is simply ignorant.

One more thing to the why question. Again, not justifying that kind of an attack but one thing to keep in mind. This was Hextall's first game of the 87-88 season after coming off his 7 game suspension from the finals the previous year. The Flyers had to know that teams were going to be using players like Sandstrom to try to get him off his game... and it happened ALL year that year. So there had to be an effort to protect him. Of course that went a bit far but probably where it was coming from

Sandstrom was a bitch in his early years but this was brutal, Brown could've grabbed him and rag dolled him and everything would've been fine. The Flyer announcers back in the day were ultra homers.
