World Malaria Day, April 25th, was established in 2007 by the World Health Assembly to recognize the efforts, successes, and ongoing needs of the global health community in the fight against malaria. The 2012 World Malaria Day theme is "Sustain Gains, Save Lives: Invest in Malaria" and reminds the world that while significant progress has been made (malaria deaths have dropped by 33% in Africa since 2000), only continued investment in control efforts will ensure that we can stop deaths from this preventable and treatable disease.
