Attention Melbourne, Aust. Punks:Two months ago the last live band punk venue open in Melbourne - the Royal Artillery Arthouse - closed due to pressure from the government over licencing issues. Most of the photos you see here issue from there over the past 15 years. For want of anywhere else to go out, last night we went out to a "punk" club in Melbourne and patiently waited like cattle in a long line of emos.
When we got to the front of the line we observed they were scanning identity cards with an electronic scanner and general admission was $20 !!! No band - just taped music, expensive, watered-down drinks and a bunch of Emos staring at each other. We only had $15 each so we turned around and went home on public transport, leaving their so-called expensive Scene to themselves.
We are forming a punk affinity based in Melbourne where punks can pressure clubs, bouncers and form their own underground (literally in the sewers via Cave Clan allies) venues and events ... Contact us privately here for details of this punk affinity ... :)
The reasons the Royal Artillery (skin head period) and Arthouse (punk period) produced good Scenic photos was because (1) it was a live venue pub - anyone could come in (2) no bouncers - didn't need them - never ANY fights (3) low sensible prices for unemployed and students and punks (4) friendly sensitive family owners who were music and Scene lovers (5) services like a recording studio and cheap accomodation ... starting to understand yet ...?
The death of punk in Melbourne, a Gothic Victorian city of millions...? International punk allies of our affinity are very welcome. Even though you may not be able to visit Melbourne, Australia physically in the meat, (though you might one day!!), video and audio messages from you will be displayed to punks of our affinity at multimedia underground venues we are intending to mount.
We ourselves are intending to offer an alternate to Saturday Night Melbourne Holocausts at our own underground venue immediately. Music, vids, drinks, bongs, back to squat days roots ... We plan affinity YouTube punk broadcasts of the punks that gather at our venue on the night. The affinity has no charge. No membership fees.
Pacifist anarchists only please - any Scene crashes will be met with DEADLY force from US (remains handed over to the filth Babylon ...). Contact us privately here. Affinity is cell-network basis. Limited only by popularity, floorspace and credibility as we don't like to be too popular and groups buy trouble...
