When catastrophes like Japan's nuclear meltdown happen, there are a few questions that need to be answered. What happened and what can we do to prevent this? Perhaps a better question is, what can we do to move past this and into the future? Physicist Steven Cowley says fusion energy is the perfect way to make energy, there is no waste product, no CO2 and is not dangerous to produce.

  • How ironic that RT is unquestionably more honest, competent, and thoughtful than any of the customarily lying, so-called "mainstream" corporate media outlets/brothels currently operating in the US and the rest of the western world.

why do we continue to let these corporations and government dictate our lives!?! we're fkn slaves to these pricks!

  • Canada has 175 Billion Barrels of oil....were building a pipeline to the states...to Houston....

Hopefully we'll be dressed like Arabs burning 100 dollar notes to light our cigars.

If you think I will ever receive a check form my government for thre sale of our oil... your're nuts.

we are going to sell it all off..for no gain...

  • @9DE7

Agreed. This is technology that belongs in space not on our planet. We have not fully developed natural ways of acquiring energy from the sun, wind and water currents. Nuclear technology will always pose extreme risks to people and our planet. Japan is screwed, nobody is going to be able to live in that area, they might as well evactuate the entire northern part of Japan. Its as if they dropped a nuke on themselves.

  • @The3rdPlateau

"but that's life" ?! Your response is oh well...thats too bad. Solar technology doesn't kill people neither does harnessing the wind or water currents and those technologies have not been develeoped to their full potentials as of yet. The dangers of nuclear technology outweigh the benefits, as there will always be more disasters like this, its not avoidable. The risk of lives and danger to our planet is not worth it. This is technology that belongs in space not on our planet

  • @Uaz31 I mean they haven't put nearly enough funding into researching it...if they were to do so, the technology would probably arrive much more quickly. But more importantly, of all the forms of energy it poses the lowest risk while outputting the highest amount of energy. If struck, just about any power plant could cause disaster, but that's life...

  • @The3rdPlateau

But we don't have that technology yet? It doesn't sound harmless, theres always a risk and still would pose radiation dangers if a disaster struck.

  • @The3rdPlateau My bad.....it is H3 (Hydrogen)

  • First the BP Oil Spill, and now Nuclear Reactor threats in Japan. Im a normal 14 year old boy and even I know that we need to start changing our ways. I mean seriously this world is starting to get fucked up because of how greedy we are for power and money. Just looking back 60 years, I can see how clean the world was. But now this is just a disgrace! Enough is enough! We either CHANGE NOW OR DIE SOON! Its that simple.

  • @Uaz31 Retiredtrucker is right, they're talking about nuclear fusion which produces no waste, and it doesn't use fuel rods nor uranium at all. You're thinking of fission which is splitting nuclei apart, rather than fusing them together and releasing part of their mass as pure energy because the helium nuclei weighs slightly less than the sum weight of the four hydrogen nuclei separately. That's nuclear fusion (also, an atom bomb uses fission, however a hydrogen bomb uses fusion)

  • @TheRetiredtrucker He3 (H3 is Hydrogen 3)
