why do players have helmets? so they can get hit. if theyre not allowed to get hit in the helmet then why wear one? penalties like this make it really hard for a db to stop a receiver.

I was watching that closely and it looked fine to me. NFL should be more lenient on plays like this. The ball was catchable, the defender hit him to jar it loose, there was no head hitting. Should he just watch him dive catch it? What else can the defender do?
They should concentrate on plays like Suh torquing qb necks. (see Suh on Delhomme). Those plays need to be addressed.
