It's definitely not presumptuous for biologists to claim that they understand the digestive track of rabbits, since after all it is their job to do so. They are not claiming to understand EVERYTHING, but are merely presenting a conclusion backed by a hefty body of evidence. It is quite simple really, if the fermentation chamber of an organism follows the large intestine it serves no purpose! There is nothing presumptuous about that statement

It was intelligently designed to eat shit. Nothing wrong with that. Damn it, I regret the time I made out with a rabbit in college.

@lbenitez7 Maybe the reason behind it is because the way a rabbit's body is designed. I'm no rabbit expert but I'm just wondering because after all these years you'd think that there would be some kind of function or purpose behind a rabbit leaving behind a pellet which it eats again. Dunno what it is, just saying.

Its actually an extreamly efficient means of extracting food nutrients twice. Wild rabbits must eat as fast as possible to reduce risk of predation. Later in safety under cover their able to re-process the nutrients to its absolute full potential. This is amazing design to allow the greatest chance for survival of its species. This guy has absolutely no concept of natural biology.

err, this is assuming that we have complete knowledge of a rabbits digestive tract :/

Personally i think its quite a clever system, i mean how does the digestive tract "know" for a start, also this process allow the rabbit to get the minerals, vitamins and proteins its needs from the food this way.

Cows needs lots of stomachs, this seems to allow the rabbit just to use one. :) (although i'm no rabbit expert, did Wikipedia it though :) )

What about the larger socio-biological elements involved? Its possible that by allowing the first half the digestive process to be undertaken by say, a rabbit sitting around guarding the young, some others could go out to do other stuff and expend less energy on digestion themselves...amongst many other possibilities of behavior/ energy equilibria.

What strikes me is, it's presumptuous to think man knows everything there is to know about rabbits, or any single organism for that matter. Who knows, years from now, we may learn some fantastic thing about this process in rabbits. It would then be considered intelligent by some.

Yes. Our government's attitude is still not one for thinking. The answer to most problems is "blowing them up." I'm waiting for our country to do away with the constitution because it gets in the way of getting things done. "WE the People" aren't the deciders any more.

Actually there is a new drug being abused by kids now called butt hash. It's made by deficating and urinating into a bottle and putting a balloon over the top of the bottle and set out to ferment. The gas caused from the fermentation is then inhaled.
