  • Hi Jim

The saw is cooled with mineral oil so it will cut anything even meteorites the biggest size it can cut is about 24" x 8" i would be happy to cut some you can contact me at jasonborst@mac.com

  • To make the automatic feed you need the motor out of a microwave turntable mine is about 2.5 to 3 rpm some go up to 6 rpm that is fixed to a 4ft length of 3/8 threaded bar which gives the table a feed rate of 10" per hour which is perfect for Jaspers etc.

Ps there are lots of good parts in old microwaves

  • Jason--that is a seriously sweet bit of kit you've put together there. If I got you a blade would you be willing to cut some big meteorites for me? I assume you don't have a blade for cutting mets?...Jim

  • Just when I have seen it all! This is 10 times better than any slab saw out there. I have been tearing apart unused tools etc. to build something like this. Not nearly as advanced as this design. I understand the x and y travel of the guide rail system but how do you make it an automatic feed? I was originally just going to do a gravity feed with a weight. That looks like a $5000 machine! Nicely done. Cheers!
