2010 Tecla Lin Nursing Education Fund Awards

The Tecla Lin Nursing Education Fund Award celebration was held May 10, 2010.

The awards are named after Tecla Lin, a registered nurse who worked at West Park in the temporary SARS unit in 2003 and later lost her life to SARS that same year.

Tecla was a highly accomplished nurse with over 35 years of experience. She was committed to continual education to further her nursing knowledge.

To celebrate Teclas dedication to nursing education, the Tecla Lin Nursing Education Fund was created in 2004.

The fund provides financial support for tuition, books, lab fees, etc. for nurses who are pursing further studies in the field.

The fund was made possible through West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation and the numerous donors who contributed to the fund.

The recipients for this years Tecla Lin Nursing Education Fund Award were Ion Naforeanu, RPN; Jasmin Khan, RPN; and Jennifer Huang, RN.

Monday, May 10 was also the first day of National Nursing Week, a time to celebrate Canadian nurses for their provision of outstanding patient-centred care and dedication to advancing the health system.
