Enter the rapid on river right. Move left and T - up against the top hole that flipped two people in the video. Ride the curler and point your boat right. You should be in a seam of water that moves right of the big hole at the bottom. Both boaters who flipped in the top hole were pushed into this seam. You'll notice they are pushed right of the big hole when they are upside down. At higher flows it is tempting to enter the rapid on river left. But you almost always end up flipping up top
I've run this stretch before but always walked Rigor. multiple nasty undercuts. Definitely class V. I could see how Black Rock and the Narrows could be IV+ at regular levels. All of them are V to V+ at high water. If you ask me, Rigor is a step up from Gore Canyon at regular flows, and Gore is basically Colorado's quintessential class V run.
Arguing about a rapid that you have never run let alone seen in person is kinda silly if you ask me. At low water Rigor is very managable (I've run it three times in the past few days), mid to high flows it becomes terrifying. Not even close to a Class IV
This drop is DEF. a class 5 no doubt,anyone who says 4 is an idiot,for real,I have ran lots of 3,4,and a few 5-,and guys that is a class 5-very very sticky holes,sieves,undercuts,class 5 you tool boxes-lower gauley is a 4..get with it..cam h.
actually you guys are wrong. I work on clear creek and run this rapid, along with the other class V rapids before it (Black Rock and The Narrows), and they are all class V. If you know anything about the river, you would know that it looks way different up close and personal than from a crappy camcorder.

I think with those lines and surviving them unscathed, this one might need to be downgraded to IV+.

proper class is IV including the sieve, undercut and sticky hole at end. V+ or V looks very different than this
