(LYRICS, MEANINGS & VIDEO) Surinder Kaur Ji has been considered as a great Punjabi singer only. But, she has sung many Hindi songs amazingly. This marvelous song has been composed by great Master Ghulam Haider and the touching lyrics by Harishchandra Akhtar for the movie Kaneez. My previous video on her song "Ek Nazar Yaad Hai" is on Madhubala and I have compiled this video on Nargis Ji. I hope you will welcome this video also.

Surinder Kaur had been gifted with a marvelous voice. She was born in Lahore -Pakistan on 25 November 1929. She made her debut from Lahore Radio Station in 1943. The family relocated to Delhi (India) following the partition of India in 1947. Later, they moved to Bombay. She sang many songs as a playback singer in Hindi movies like Shaheed and Kaneez by Ghulam Haider, Daada by Nashad, Sunehray Din, Naa'o by Gyan Dutt, Sabaq by Allah Rakha, Piyar ki Jeet by Hussan Lal Bhaghat Ram etc.
She is most famous for her Punjabi folk songs, which are more than 2000. At a very young age she was married to Joginder Singh Sodhi, a University Professor. She was awarded the Sangeet Natak Academy Award, the Millennium Punjabi Singer Award, and the Padma Shri Award. She passed away on 15 June 2006 in New Jersey, USA.

Whata lovely song by the Punjabi legend singer Surinder Kaur. I doubt if any other singer can match her in quality or clarity in singing. Lyrics by Harishchandra Akhtar are touching.

The song has perfectly been superimposed on another legendry star Nargis still reigning the hearts of many after more than half a century of her prime years.

A perfect piece of art and skill by Mukhtar Bhai. We wish to congratulate him for creating this master piece only for the purpose of sharing love & brotherhood

Kaneez was probably last film of Ghulam Hyder in Bombay. He composed songs but not back ground music and migrated to Pakistan. This was then arranged by OP Nayyar which may be his debut Kaneez contains beautiful songs of Zeenat Begum and one is my favourite (Ud ja kaga).

Surinder Kaur, bulbul-e-Punjab are few Urdu/Hindi films, like Singhar(Khurshed Anwar, Dada (Nashad), Shaheed(GH), Sabaq(AR Qureshi also Punjabi) and then she turned to folk Punjabi songs and made history.

Surinder Kaur was a very tuneful singer and was disciple of Ustad Niaz Hussain Shami. It is a good idea to picture good songs on old wonderful actresses like pretty Nargis in this song. Kaya Baat Hei Shama Nahaar Ji!
