... little to say here, perhaps just the facts.

The footage was shot in Woolloomooloo Sydney, against a massive retaining wall, above which sits the Art Gallery of NSW.

Across, through and above this wall flows the morning traffic. The continuous footage was taken from 7AM, on a winters morning - August 29, 2008 to be more precise. The sound is actual - only sped up - and the heart beat layered.

The shadow falls as the sun rises

  • Just browsed through your site and I find your work very interesting! Thank you for reaching me.

  • ... my pleasure ...

  • Sinking lower as the sun climbs higher. Ooops. Spoiler alert! Have watched it over and over, and it's still just as arresting. Your hungry public waits patiently for more Garisms.

  • ... thank you so much for revisiting Anna. It means a great deal coming from you.

I love what Autumncornsilk below has said about the sound:

"THE SOUND! at first it sounded like my ms courseing through my body ..."

  • i may sound kinda ignorant but... i don't get it

  • ... that's cool. Its meant to be a more suggestive thing rather than a prescriptive one and judging by the responses below hopefully you'll get a feel for what its meant for others and what it could mean for you. You'll notice the actual shadow of the landmass slowly sinking. In a way its asking something about what does all that earnest rushing - our conditioned behaviours - matter or mean when we don't even see that the whole ship is sinking???

  • I thought your "the yellow hoop" was poignant, and then I see this one. Wow. What else do you do?

  • thanks for sharing very good!

  • Interesting and unique. Thank You for sharing it.

  • Yes - that was an amazingly intimate, revealing thing to a) observe b) articulate. To me, it sort of proves or illustrates one of the most striking aspects of your work: that ability to transmute, to osmose so smoothly through that infinitely thin membrane that separates man from his surrounding environment. You go from intracellular 'awareness' to the megaliths of body, earth, universe as easily as a baby opens its eyes. Bravissimo!!!!
