My first video! Playing around with camera and mic positions and learning all this recording and uploading stuff.

Capo on 5th fret (all chords are relative to capo).

Verses and choruses are basically C, E, F, G, with two flourishes:
making the E an E7 (lift your third finger, leaving the D string open)
making the G a Cadd9 (move your second and third fingers up one string)
So that's
C C
E E7 E
F F
G Cadd9 G

Before the bridge ("oh no, here we go"), there's an extra F and G.
The Bridge is:
C Amin F G.
C E7 (let ring)

On the first lines of the second and third verses, and in the "ooo ooo ooo" right before the last chorus, I throw in an F# (third finger on the 2nd fret on the 6th string) to walk up from the F to the G.

Strumming pattern:

d = down stroke
u = up stroke
x = muted down stroke (lightly cover all the strings with your left hand, and bring the pick and right palm down hard on the strings)

Verse:
|d-x-|--x-|d-x-|--x-|d-x-|--x-|d-x-|--x-|
|duxu|-ux-|duxu|-ux-|duxu|-ux-|duxu|dudu|

Chorus:
(basically the same as as the Verse, except I start each chord with just a downstroke instead of downstroke-upstroke)
|d-xu|-ux-|d-xu|-ux-|d-xu|-ux-|duxu|dudu|

Lyrics:

If there's someone you can live without, then do so
And if there's someone you can just shove out, then do so

You can be my Yoko Ono
You can follow me wherever I go
Be my, be my, be my Yoko Ono, oh-o-oh

Isn't it beautiful to see two people so much in love
Barenaked as two virgins hand in hand and hand and hand in glove
But now that I'm far away it doesnt seem to me to be such a pain
To have you hanging off my ankle like some kind of ball and chain

You can be my Yoko Ono
You can follow me wherever I go
C E E7 E F G
Be my, be my, be my Yoko, be my Yoko
F G
Oh no, here we go
C Amin
Our life is just one big pun
F G
Oh no, here we go
C
As Yoko sings
E7
Aieee!

I know that when I say this
I may be stepping on pins and needles
But I dont like all these people
Slagging her for breaking up the Beatles
(don't blame it on Yokey!)
I mean if I was John and you were Yoko
I would gladly give up musical genius
Just to have you as my very own, personal Venus

You can be my Yoko Ono
You can follow me wherever I go
Be my, be my, be my Yoko Ono, oh-oh

Ooo, ooo, oo, oo, ooo

  • stupid question, but what's the strum pattern you use in this ?

  • @cameronjaeger There are no stupid questions, only novice guitarists. :-) I added a strumming pattern section to the description. The main pattern is:

    |duxu|-ux-|duxu|-ux-|duxu|-ux-|duxu|dudu|

Always keep your hand moving up and down, whether you're hitting the strings or not. Let me know if it helps or if I can be more specific.

  • Vocals need a bit of work. But over pretty good cover. Thumbs up d00d!
