Janette Miller DIYTV Xmas 2011 Two Enhanced YouTube

2011 has been a 'challenging' year. For me a technical upgrade and it seems for YouTube too as now one has the ability to color correct and 'smooth' on line. I use the Flash encoder. I color corrected in Color but it always looks 'dark' on YouTube. Usually I have to experiment but now YouTube does it for me albeit taking quite a time to process but that is par for the course. It really is a time saver in the long run!

Now even fewer people will be able to do this as the copyright laws are so strict. I can "Do it all myself" but how few can?

The loss of a free editing programme like the excellent iMovie 6.3 means that this had to be edited in Final Cut and what used to take an evening can take a long time. The result is certainly more professional but for quick Videos a broadcast quality is no essential.

I shall have to start composing modern music too otherwise I have to limit myself to pre 1923 music from now on! Schubert will have to be rearranged and will be in for a shock!

But there is 'Fair Use' and 'Educational' use so I think I can manage if I so wished. In this video all is mine but Shakespeare would have had a tough time and possibly have disappeared with the copyright laws of today. Romeo and Juliette would not have seen the light of morn!

Copyrights limited to 20 years the same as patents would be fair and mean that works can live on and be appreciated in the future.
