The "Bill" in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours." Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham's enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

I loved this documentary and felt compassion and respect for this man that dedicated his entire life to something that brought him happiness. He allowed his passion for fashion to transcend his innate need for companionship and passion. A wonderful man and deserving of great recognition.

Agree. That silence at the end when they ask him about his religiousness.

I dare to say that he is gay and also a deeply religious person and that has him with an internal conflict... or I'm just writing fiction here... doen't matter.

A great artist and probably a very nice guy.

Bill is more than just a photographer, he is a philosopher. When I watched this amazing documentary I found that this words made a lot of sense - such as "Don't take the money". I found I was compelled to compile a selection of his words of wisdom in a video which I have uploaded on my channel. I have learnt a lot about what beauty is and how to capture and live with it through Bill. If you have time and are interested in the man behind the camera I highly recommend you check it out.

The absolute greatest documentary I've ever seen. I teared up at the party they threw for him and when he won the award in Paris.

    FABULOUS STUFF!
