If the Government were serious about the new 'Marine Reserve', they'd close the military base down, but it was cynically created to deny the Chagossians the change to earn a living if they manage to get back home. This story makes me feel ashamed of that flag.

A shameful day ethnically cleansed by us brits. They could have employed the locals instead of shipping in philipinos to work on the base.

@bbcboy Good Luck... Try to get as much info about the island before you go. Make sure your family sends you a "CARE" package of all the things you can't live without. It's not like you can leave the island and go shopping.

yes,i recently learned about the brit goverment,forciably relocating the people of this isand to mauritus,so there can be a uk.us base,,,they now live in poverty,, as a british man,i am ashamed of my nations betrayal to an island that were proud to be part of the british commonwealth

WOW This video brought back memories when I was stationed there Oct 82-Oct 83. I was the US Air Force MAC Passenger Service Rep. The Navy didn't let me do my job so I became a beach bum at the Yacht Club and Brit Clubs. I would put on my uniform every Wed to check to see if there was anything important at the MAC Terminal.
