This is the standard Gretsch Catalina Maple. It's a 7 piece because the smallest rack tom (7x8) came free.I already love this kit. This is my first real kit because the black Yamaha I used in prior videos belongs to my dad. It sounds great and it's just one of Gretsch's middle of the line kits. I'd recommend it to anyone that doesn't have a huge budget for a nice set.

Everything about this kit is as it kit. I just tuned it. I didn't use any muffling on anything, including the bass drum, except for a little painters tape on the snare to eliminate some of the ring. The heads are the manufacturer standard. Coated Gretsch head by Evans on top. Clear Gretsch head by Evans on bottom.

Sizes:
7x8 (Rack)
8x10 (Rack)
9x12 (Rack)
14x14 (Floor)
16x16 (Floor)
6x14 (Snare)
18x22 (Bass)
Dark Cherry Burst finish

Filmed 12/30/11 with a Flip Ultra HD

  • Nice drumming! How long have u played for?

  • @andrethedrummer1234 I've been playing regularly since 4th grade so roughly 10 years.

  • That's the kit I have. It's pretty awesome, but I don't have the 7. How is the 7 tom?

  • @zakourmademon I like it, but of the 5 toms, it's the most work. It's always the first one to get out of tune and it has such a narrow tuning range. It sounds good if it's tuned the right way but I have to tweak about every day. Maybe that'll change when the heads set in a little more.

  • I really like the toms!!

  • @streetfast234 They sound incredible. I didn't add any effects or anything and the sound is just from two overhead mics.

  • Hey Miles! This kit sounds great man and your drumming is awesome too! I'm seriously considering buying a kit just like this....that's how I found this video. I really like them! Especially after hearing how you've got them sounding. Would you be so kind to explain to me how you tune your drums? These sound awesome and I'd like to learn how you do it. If there is not enough room here you can email me at darrellhicks3@comcast.net. Hope to hear from ya! Thanks Miles!

  • just bought this kit...wow you have this thing screaming!! nice drumming!! kit sounds amazing!

  • sounds awesome

  • Hey. I really hope this isn't creepy in any way but I got to Ravenwood and am currently a sophomore. I was on Winter guard last year so I remember you playing the drums after school a lot. You're very talented! My cousin Kevin who lives in Las Vegas is a professional drummer. He has his own channel on here: snareguy17 Check it out sometime. Oh and this is a good kit. Gretsch drums perform very well!
