The chanteuse from Baltamore --- sings the theme song of this 1967 Rankin-Bass animation classic. Ethel's voice has to be one of the seven wonders of the musical world.
You know, Shirley Bassy was chosen to sing many of the themes for the James Bond films in the 1960's , but Miss Ennis could have easily filled her shoes and exceeded those performances.
It always takes me a while to get back to you: I am also a fan of Shirley Bassy. She ha[d][s] such a powerful voice and I love the stuff she did during the sixties. As for a comparison . . . I would rate them both the same as far a vocal ability --- on a scale of 1 to 10 --- a 10+. Shirley has the power, but Ethel has the melody and jazzy delivery. Doubtless she could have easily done those James Bond films --- but I think the interpretations would have been different. Have a nice Xmas.

Bear in mind . . . she did this song
circa - 1967 [ she was still quite young
at the time] . . . she's still singing, but
her voice has changed.
