  • Just like mine which I got 3 days ago. Did you figure out a fix?

  • Yep. Replaced the filter. :)

  • have a fluvall 305 that started making noise close this about 6 months after I bought it. searched online and found that using vasaline on the impeller shaft works, so I went for it and it works like I just bought the thing.

  • Usually happens after you turn it off, you should fill it with water when it's turned off so when you turn it back on the water will flow quicker.

  • the rattling noise is from the LID of the filter.

    Just remove the lid.

  • @kelly51698 Sorry for the very belated respond. In my case, I have a planted tank, which means lots of debris coming out of the melted plants. Adjusting everything -- as I suggested, won't help much, as the blades then kept nudged by the hundreds of tiny dead plants bits. So I put lots of sponge, virtually maximising the whole area of canister, therefore the incoming water that comes with that tiny stuffs are barred to reaching the blades.

  • get a aqueon filter I use it on my Oscar tank and it works perfectly and it is much more quiet than that

  • @calpicox Mine is doing the same thing and when I tried to adjust things firmly, the impeller stopped spinning. If I try to put it in too lightly then it bounces around and makes this noise. I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

  • you put something incorrectly. Happened to me.... just adjust everything firmly.

  • My brand new one started making this sound. *Unplug and drain in bucket. Unscrew pump. Reach in and grab plastic propeller as it's part of a magnetic propeller. Inside of the pump and cord run a qtip all around. I held the pump upside down to ensure little grainails fall out. Clean off the part with the propeller. Take off the propeller. Grab a straw or compressor and blow out the inside of the magnet. Rinse only the small part and hole. I reassembled and wala.

  • mine is the same only louder!

  • Mine does the same thing I filled it to the brim with water I tried Balancing it. I tryed cleaning it. I tryed removing the lid. HELP!
