SHUT UP AND SING begleitet die Dixie Chicks (Songs wie „White Trash Wedding" oder „Not ready to make nice") drei Jahre lang quer durch die Vereinigten Staaten. Vom Status einer „Everybody's Darling"-Country Band entwickelten sich die drei Ladies zu den erfolgreichsten weiblichen Künstlern der USA. Nach der legendären Anti-Bush-Rede der Sängerin Natalie Maines, im März 2003, sahen sie sich jedoch Anfeindungen US-amerikanischer Medien ausgesetzt. Besonders Radiostationen im Süden boykottierten ihre Songs.

Die zweifache Oscar Gewinnerin Barbara Kopple („Harlan County U.S.A.") porträtiert nicht nur drei außergewöhnliche Frauen, sondern liefert eine Dokumentation über die wundervolle Mischung aus Zivilcourage und der Musik, in der das gesamte Herzblut der engagierten Texanerinnen steckt.

U can watch the movie on the channel of the dixie chicks. Seriously, I think they were really brave and they shouldn't have been treated that way.

Why didn't anyone do anything against this, I mean, everyone knows, that you have the right of saying what you want, and it is a violation of human rights. And then the Republicans say, they have to make war against all the people who abuse human rights...
