This is a simple, but very effective way to cast head props for horror films and other projects requiring realistic silicone props. We cast this head using a 74-30 head mold and used new F3 polyfoam to fill it. For more information on this technique as well as more on the molding, casting, painting, and finishing check out our DVD "Fundamentals of Silicone Skins". This DVD covers some great methods for bladder fx, severed head props, and other silicone applications.
Hey Mitch, I made a small urethane glove mold(polygel 40) of a finger prop and cast in a platinum silicone, but what came out seemed to be tacky.. almost inhibited.. should all urethane's work just like 74-30 with silicones, or is it rubber specific?

@Tomcreature It is very "rubber specific" as you say. Call us and I can better explain which rubber combinations do or do not work.

Could you use the platsil gel 10 face on the mask without the foam for a mask?
Please respond. I want to make a realistic mask that has the facial features of the prop in this video.

@Dar3Snipin Yes, you could use just the silicone as a mask.
