@ebdeluna In my book about WSS, maria is described as 'beautiful, virginal and cahrmingly feisty', so she is meant to be sassy, especially with the gun bit at the end
-
I personally didn't like the acting
-
Cavenaugh totally outclassed by Scaglione - he is not equipped to sing with her - especially that wavering teetering vibrato - pit orchestra was great
-
@613paolita I saw the show last night and I couldn't believe the new Maria in the part... she was indeed too nasally and was very sassy, which is not how I see Maria as being portrayed... overall it was very disappointing :( if tony or maria are wrong, the whole show misses something. The dancing, of course, was spot on

I want the dvd!!

@SwedishChef13 Her singing was voiced over because some of the notes were too low for her. Other than that, most of it is her own.

she is! I just saw the show with the new "Maria" and she is very nasaly! I did not enjoy her singing. Also, when singing in Spanish, I couldn't understand a word!! and yes, I am bilingual!!! Disappointing to say the least!
I also did not like Chino, not a spanish speaking person obviously, it made it very hard to understand what he was saying in Spanish. sad, since there are so many bilingual and talented people who would fit that part.

@fiddleriddler Hey are you interested in selling the DVD?
-
Hey I am interested in getting the DVD from you. Let me know

@kmcarter24 In the movie Rita Moreno (Anita) had an authentic accent. She was born in Puerto Rico and her first job was as a Spanish voice-over actor. I know her singing was sometimes voiced over, but her accent was all real :)
Great performance, not good quality video.
