Open Mind Lecture Series
When: 19 May 2010 - 5:30pm
Location: Geelong City Library
Topic: The perils of all things nuclear
Speaker: Dr Helen Caldicott M.B.B.S.F.R.A.C.P
This lecture will examine the costs and consequences of nuclear energy. Helen will uncover the facts that belie the nuclear industry propaganda which include: that nuclear power contributes to global warming; the true cost of nuclear power is prohibitive, with taxpayers picking up most of the tab: there's simply not enough uranium in the world to sustain nuclear power over the long term; and the potential for a catastrophic accident or a terrorist attack far outweighs any benefits.
