  • @intercityrailpal This particular RDC is not the same as an original RDC. This one has been extensively upgraded and modified with new powertrains, electronics, etc. This RDC is a demo unit...which IRSI uses as a shop switcher from time to time.

  • What I want to know is. Is the former Lehigh Valley RDC they were parting out still up there?

  • They are direct drive diesels. The drive shaft was not intended for this use. This is a great way to break the drive shaft on the RDC. Budd said "not to do this". NH and M&STL violated this rule. But they didn't pull the weight of a freight engine!

  • "If only Budd could see me now," thinks the Railliner to itself.

  • Used to live there, spent lots of time at IRSI.

  • Nice! Not a sight you see everyday.

  • Was that a freight in the background?
