DO40 members Ken Urmston and Johnny Nola recall the ultimate dancer that was Gwen Verdon, just weeks after her death. Both men had worked closely with her on shows in the 50s, and both have much to say about her contribution to the world of dance -- and more specifically, Broadway dance and how she changed the way women were seen -- and heard on the Great White Way.

  • Make sure you watch the NEW version of Who's Got the Pain we just put up here with Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon -- AND Harvey Evans and Gwen! It's under Gwen Verdon #6.

  • I'm the one that got it from the Cavett people, back in 1999, and now I can't find even ONE copy around! It was originally on vhs, of course! I'm still looking, since DO40 is doing a Gwen Verdon Tribute...NEXT WEEK (see below!) DO40

  • DO40 will be doing a tribute to Gwen on May 23rd in NYC. Watch for the videos of it in the summer!

  • Thank you for posting this; I just adore Gwen Verdon, and it's hard to find material on/with her.

  • @porterhouse1974 Amen!

  • There is nothing like Gwen Verdon.

  • So much talent in a magical moment in history. She was right when she said that we all think she is still young. Even after her death she will live on as that amazing redhead who "grew up on the farm far away from harm..." in New Girl in Town.

  • I loved Gwen in "Marvin's Room".

EVE from Can Can is WOW!
