In this tutorial from the previous will show you how to add scrolling level using the XNA Platformer Starter Kit. This will allow you to create a new project with the template provided by Microsoft that contains functionality for basic platformer games. From there you can extend the functionality that is provided. I have broken down the tutorial into 3 parts since youtube only allows up to ten minutes per video file.

You can download XNA Game Studio 3.1 at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=80782277-d584-42d2-8...

For a reference on this tutorial is located at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd254919(XNAGameStudio.31).aspx

  • Hey i downloaded visual C# express edition 2008 and i don't have the xna template, how do i get that and what do i do after?

  • @Jikara13 Download XNA Game Studio 3.1. Hyperlink is provided in this video description.

  • If you recorded this at 1920x1080 (not upscaled) you can resize to 1920x1072 to make the text readable on YouTube.

  • @archondrius Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep that in mind when uploading my future videos.

  • @sanoj275 Yes, I think the Platformer start kit templates were only made for XNA 3.1. There were some known issues and breaking changes when changing from 3.1 to 4.0.

  • @dhoyt2010 I have the same problem as @pauliancu, i have XNA game studio 4.0, and Visual C# 4.0. They don't seem to have "Platformer starter kit".

  • You're the man :)

  • @pauliancu The Xna Platformer Starter Kit is part of the XNA Game Studio 3.1 download. All you need to do is run this installation and then run your Visual Studio. You should be able to see Platformer Starter Kit template under XNA Game Studio 3.1 section in C#.

  • Hey nice tutorial but from where i can download the Xna Platformer Starter Kit .
