First, I want to thank Charlie Chaplin for his magnificent performance here, his mimic and gestures are simply overwhelming. I want to thank everyone who was involved in creating this movie, and especially this timeless, brilliant and heartrending final speech (70 years ago!).

Second, I want to thank Hans Zimmer for this beautiful and epic song. A song that brings tears to my eyes and a smile on my face at the same time, everytime I listen to it.

Finally, I am thankful for the very moment I had the idea to combine these two masterpieces of art. Together they conjure hope to my mind, courage to my heart.

There are no cuts. Speech and song just fit great together. I only increased the volume of the speech as the song plays up.

My favorite moment is at ~2:30, the camera zooms on Chaplin's face... "... but in all men, in you! You, the people have the power! The power to create machines, the power to create happiness! You, the people have the power, to make this life free and beatiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure! ..."

Inconceivably awesome. I love it.

Thanks a lot for the comments!

This deserves the 100+ views than Gangnam Style.

What the bloody fuck is wrong with humanity right now?

And for so long he remained in silence, but when he spoke, the whole world was silent to hear him.

Anyone know who wrote this speech? Was it actually written by Charlie Chaplin?

"let's do away with national boundaries" damn this guy was progressive even for today. It's a shame he wasn't a real politician.

Really? I know what point you're trying to make, but Gangnam style is (was) played on the radio every hour on the hour, parodied a million times over on television and became (for some reason) more ubiquitous than almost any other song. You know why it has more views.

Gangnam Style has a whole lot more than 100 views.

But I guess 100+ is accurate.

Well, Youtube is for short idiotic/ entertaining clips, like gangnam style. The great dictator is rated at 66 of the top 250 greatest movies ever made on imdb, so it definitely is appreciated nowadays. So when you think about it this speech is too good for youtube, in a way. God forbid, if there was ever a movie made about Gangnam style it wouldn't be anywhere near as good as the great dictator. And keep in mind there's clips of this speech all over Youtube, with far more views then this one.

It deserves more views but that's not the point. The point is to awaken the human being inside us. Those who are seeking will find this and those who have awakened will find solace in this speech.
