That is one of the exciting things about purchasing used books. Once I found a commemorative card from Richard Nixon's 1962 California gubernatorial campaign inserted in the 25 cent book I bought at a library book sale---he and Pat were thanking us for our support.
Excellent shopping - not just because of that Rosa Parks treasure. "... Rosegarden" and "Jane Eyre" are nice reads, and that Highschool girl book sounds very interesting. How much has really changed since then?
Those books shops in Ann Arbor are cool. I found a personal treasure there, too, the one time I have been there.
Nobody's business - true, yet there are many people taking interest in your words. Thank you very much for sharing!
Hello Mel, The Rosa Parks book is certainly a collector's item...very nice find. The thought of that person being released has to be quite disturbing. Perhaps a call or a letter to the parole Dept. stating your concern may be in order. I will pray for your safety and try not to let it upset your life...you have alot to look forward to...regards...
You probably looked it up already, but Wikipedia says Carrie Hamilton (Carol Burnett's actress daughter) passed away from cancer. Also, a friend and mentor of mine taught me that there's so much variation in regional pronunciations, you can't always be sure what is "correct." Melinda asked how it's pronounced and I said, "I have heard it pronounced like Jane Air." She didn't pronounce it in the first place but spelled E-Y-R-E, so I wasn't really "correcting".
You asked about taking care of the Rosa Parks book. I was reading online to store in a cool dry environment and store in an upright position. I have a book autographed by Shirley Temple I keep in a drawer so maybe I am doing it wrong. Hope that helps, wish I knew more. Let us know if you don't mind if you find the best way to preserve books.
Mel you find such interesting variety of books at re-sale shops. the 2 shops we have here are quite limited; lots of Nora Roberts, etc., but I did get a book called Living Faith signed by Jimmy Carter last year. How wonderful the Rosa Parks book is.
im concerned regarding the subject narrative, i wish more pleasant days ahead, regardless of what comes @ you .....you are you. You can not survive in protection mode forever, and I always pray for you.... in many tiny ways,...the ¶ast cant follow you, it just hangs on.= you are ƒree ≈/\/\erci
I have a photo from the apartment that she rented, just happened to be my mates apartment down the street on Davie Street. The CBC special regarding her daughters addiction was filmed in west end Vancouver.
I will post a video response when eye find that photo...
