I actually made this video for my friend Bruce Baum. I've enjoyed his act ever since I was a little kid and just recently I've started to hear from him. He's just as talented as ever and this clip shows prime Bruce Baum, like you wouldn't see on network TV! I would say this performance is comparable to a PG-13 rating. Nothing raunchy, just some adult language.

This segment was taken from the very rare HBO special, "Don Rickles & His Wiseguys", originally aired in 1980. As far as I've researched, this special has NEVER been officially released on VHS or DVD. That is a shame, because Don Rickles hosted quite an excellent cast. Bruce, of course, but also Wayland Flowers and Madame, Pudgy, Jackie Wakefield, and Kenny Yune.

I actually sourced this from a blank VHS cassette from 1980 which, quite amazing, still works with excellent picture and sound quality.

And yes, Baby Man makes an appearance!

  • To get that kind of a sincere reaction out of Rickles speaks volumes about Bruce Baum's talent. Even the placement of the jokes is brilliant. He didn't hit us over the head with Babyman right away -- He built it up, so that by the time he says "what about us NORMAL people?" you're ready to wet your pants from laughing so hard.

  • @zachhoran say him in cleveland 1980, did some joke with a barbie doll in a glass of beer hope to find it on youtube

  • Bruce Baum's been kicking around in stand up for like 30 years. He was the only comedian to appear on the 1979 and 1997 versions of Make me Laugh. He was on Super Password as a celebrity the week the contestant won $60K and turned out to be running from the law. He also appeared on Match Game 1990 as a celeb. Whether his resemblances to David Crosby have helped him is unknown.

  • great stuff! I remember back when I would would go to Tahoe periodically and everytime The comedy clubs there would be Bruce Baum or Denny Johnstone and I would think "wow can this weekend get any better!!!!"
