Jimmy Lee Fautheree (born 1934 in Smackover, Ark.) and Johnny Mathis (born in Maud, Texas). Mathis periodically left and was replaced as "Johnny" during those periods by Lynn Fautheree, Jimmy's brother.
Jimmy's performances started out in Dallas at the Big D Jamboree, went on to the Louisiana Hayride with his friend Johnny Mathis (Country Johnny Mathis), and wasn't long till he was being booked there for many performances. His first Capitol session took place at the Louisiana Hayride in 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Four songs were recorded - "Go Ahead and Go" (a Jimmy Lee original), and here, was also renamed "Jimmy Lee". Jimmy Lee went on to be a great star in the Hillbilly field - "If You Don't, Somebody Else Will", "Can't Find The Doorknob", "Sweet Love On My Mind", "Sweet Singing Daddy", among many.
Just fucking great!!

Great stuff, I love it, Jimmy Lee was a cousin of mine, though I met him only once. His grandpa was Mack Hammonds of Maud Texas :) Music runs in the family.

That's right man! Thanks for getting the sync as good as you can (plus some informative notes). The other postings of this clip are way out. Wish there was a clip of Jimmy and Johnny doing 'Can't find the doorknob'. Have to make do with my old D 45!

This is my Uncle Jimmy and Uncle Lynnie. They had more talent than they knew what to do with. And for the record, these guys started out on the Louisiana Hayride with Elvis. Elvis was like a brother to them. They were always singing, playing, and writing songs.

This isn't Jimmy & Johnny, but Jimmy Fautheree (electric guitar) and his brother Lynn (rhythm guitar). Johnny Mathis had split from the hit-making J&J duet at the time these films were made...but then he wasn't on the studio recording of this song either, despite the fact it was credited to "Jimmy & Johnny"!
