"We'll Meet Again"" was written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles in 1939. It was made famous by Vera Lynn. She first sang the song in 1939 while touring with the Ambrose Orchestra. Ms Lynn also sang the song in the 1942 movie "We'll Meet Again" in which she starred. The movie was produced by Ben Henry and his associate, George Formby. George was a singer and movie actor and comedian in his own right.
My slightly more update inspiration for doing this song is from "The Preservation Hall Jazz Band." Narvin Kimball, the one-of-a-kind left handed banjo player, with whom I had a slight connection when I was in New Orleans many years ago, sang a wonderful version of the song. Kimball died in 2006 at 90. He was still playing. His version of "Georgia on My Mind" was a show stopper.
