Best female Horse but no chance against the big boys Secretariat ,Man o war ,....she coudln't even beat Blame who is a very good not great horse

@Playboyy1985 She had a very big chance with the big boys - ONE more stride and she would have beat Blame.  She was stuck in traffic and had to get out from the back of the pack. She can be mentioned as one of the greats - she proved it. Saying "no chance" is to miss what happened in the race completely.

@Playboyy1985 Not true at all. Secretariat lost races to horses that had far inferior records to Zenyatta. So does that lower Secretariat's accomplishments? No. And for the *one* race Zenyatta lost by one stride is less of a loss than even what Secretariat has. My point being, one loss by a nose when she was still closing proves that she is one of the best and can be mentioned among the greats. Your reasoning is flawed.

I said earlier even Secretariat lost - most of the greatest ones have,,hence my point that her nose loss to Blame when she would have beat him in one more stride is NOT proof that she is not one of the greatest. No one here is arguing she is better than Secretariat but she does indeed belong in a group of the best. She showed more heart and guts than most on Saturday and I do believe if she ran against the same field, she could beat them all.

@Syncraftable Zenyatta was nothing she couldn't beat records she didn't win her maidens by 15 lengths and ruffian died in her last race and ruffian was never whipped and ruffian was just the best and she would smoke zenyatta you should read more before trying to say zenyatta is the best when she is nothing but a donkey american horse ruffian is the queen then comes landaluce so get some real facts dumb shit !

@johnofohu123 As good as Ruffian was, Zenyatta was better. Not only did Zenyatta face stiffer competition, beat males and females, and rack up more G1 wins than Ruffian, but she retired sound and was not bred like a train wreck.. Ruffian was a ticking time bomb, it's a wonder she even made it to her 11th start before critically injuring herself.

Blame was lucky, and his connections know it! Loved Garrett Gomez standing in his saddle and saluting Zenyatta twice! What class! Blame's trainer was humble and acknowledged they were lucky. Only the ignominious Seth Hancock blundered and missed an historic opportunity to continue the time-honored tradition of his grandfather and his father, the great Bull Hancock. Even Zenyatta's critics acknowledge what she did on the track that day was one of the greatest performances ever!

@Bushwood, where were you in 2009 BC Classic? Duh!! Zenyatta in her first ever run at the Classic distance mowed down the best males in the U.S. at that time!!! Yes, she lost in 2010, but "it took all odds against her & a perfect race to beat her". She WAS the best horse on the track that day. Like Slew in 1978 JCGC, Exceller was able to take advantage that Affirmed was knocked out of the race & a tiring Slew got nosed out by Exceller. Blame won the race, but Zenyatta won the debate!

@Dingerz I would have to agree very much with that comment, I think also another reason for her slim loss is that she wasn't quite prepared enough. I belive the triner shouldn't have thrown her into a distance she hasn't raced yet AND she was only racing with the females. The great Zenyatta was up against some very tough competion and she showed great heart and tenacity that fateful day. Every great racehorse loses, It proves that they had the guts to race even against the best of best
