This is the classic Drake TR-7 transceiver from the late seventies/early eighties. This radio was way ahead of its time; an exceptional design. It pairs a low-noise synthesizer (large 500kHz steps) to a VFO. All frequencies for the synthesizer and counter display (as well as the SSB BFO frequencies) are derived from a single master oscillator. with exceptional frequency accuracy and low phase noise behavior as a result. The receiver has superb large-signal handling and this radio probably has the best (and most accurate) S-meter I have ever experienced. An excellent, all made-in-the-USA design from Drake.
