  • Hi Hidetchi. Great videos. From the position @ 7:40 where white refuses the black's pawn gambit, what happens if, instead of S-4c, white plays L-1b? In your video on Saginomiya Attack, you demonstrate that Oblique Climbing Silver is ineffective against white's P-6d/L-1b defense, wouldn't this be the same, and, if not, how is it different?

  • If L-1b, then you can just win the pawn with Px3d, so it's clearly better for black.

In this case, black has not moved the rook to 3h yet, so L-1b is simply losing one move and even loses one pawn.

  • at 5:06, could white make a pawn drop to 2b? It would protect the knight, and stop the promotion right?

  • Yes, white can stop the promotion, but he wouldn't be able to exchange his rook in that way. Only the black's rook would be mobile there, and black would be the only player who has pawns in his hand.

  • yeah this nice. mi is a beginner of shogi for 2 days with 0 knowledge . after looking your videos like movement of the pieces n some opening video. it got it better. thanks. i would to pieces of the promoted pieces new moves. can pls direct a link to me. ty.

  • Great video!

The "sidetracks" is what i think makes your videos so great, you get to know most of the possibility's.

I think you should do the summing up of all moves without all sidetracks and comments at the end like you did this time.

    Keep up the good work!

  • yay Climbing Silver!

  • @niematotamtokirej If ▲B*3c in this position then △S*3b forks the bishop and the dragon. If your intention is to use the bishop to defend against the horse, the only possible line from here is ▲Dx6a △Sx ▲Bx1a+ and now you've lost your dragon. White is up material and can start attacking with △L*8d, so ▲B*3c doesn't work. If you just make a rook trade with ▲Bx4b+, you lose the efficiency advantage you had before because white can now drop a rook in your camp. So ▲B*3c does not work here.

  • 5:50 Bishop to 3c Forking the Lance and Rook creating a chance to promote and doing its earlier job
