Stoughton Tornado

The smaller of two tornados as it bounces and lifts just before crossing Highway N. This smaller tornado is what damaged my Dads Car Museum. Behind the small tornado is the big / main tornado. It is currently crossing a small lake and is masked by all the water.

Wrong, There were Two, I was there. The smaller tornado is in this video, it lifted just before highway N at the dog park, this one damaged the Business park and took the roof off my dads building, and 1/4 mile north the main tornado went through the Golf Course and went behinf the county garage.

There were actually THREE tornadoes. The large one and small one, the small one having spun out of the large one, which is not unusual. But the large one actually was sequence of two tornadoes and that is on videotape. As the first tornado began to rope out and became only partially visible (a middle section visually missing) a second wedge formed and overtook it. For anyone not watching carefully the two tornadoes would have seemed as one.

Don't listen to AirRaider56, he does not know what he is talking about. Here are the FACTS from NOAA: Dane County Tornado 1: 6:15-7:08 20 mile path F3 Tornado 2: 6:17-6:21 2 mile path. There was also a THIRD tornado, but not in the area of Stoughton. You can check it out here for yourself on their website. So AirRaider56, before you go spouting off what you THINK are facts, CHECK em out first bub.

This is a satellite tornado of the primary vortex main tornado. It is easily visable between the second and third utility poles and is more foreground than the main funnel. Because the main vortex is so large, it is "spinning off" smaller funnels on its' periphery- this one could be anti-cyclonic (spinning the opposite way) but hard to tell from this. Radar and reports often don't pick these up due to their smaller size and limited damage potential.

@MrJGassen I was chasing this, from the time the TORNADO touched town till it lifted and i chased the 5 others near fort atkinson. I saw one, the storm reports say there was one.. obiously your video is not in stoughton
