Got Me Going Crazy (Chapter 13)

Joe: *walks in* Hey guys, mom and dad wanna know whats taking so long.

Kevin: Joe! Shut up! Dereks seen my dream girl! He can help!

Joe: No way!

Derek: way! Now come here! This involves you guys! I have a plan...

*the group gathers around Derek to listen to his plan. Much later, around 9:30, Joe and Nick slip into a drug shop.*

Nick: I cant believe we are doing this!

Joe: Just play it cool.

*They go to the counter. Joe slips the cashier some cash.*

Joe: We were sent by Derek to pick up his order.

*The cashier looks around, then reaches behind the counter and grabs a paper bag of marijuana. He hands it to Joe and Nick and they carefully leave the shop.*

Nick: Ok, lets get this to Derek so he can tell Kevin his where his stupid girl is, and get home.

*A police car drives around the corner.*

Joe: Oh, shit, Nick, run!

*They start running. The car puts on its siren and chases after them. They finally catch up. The police step out of the car.*

Officer 1: Why are you 2 boys running?

Joe: Umm

Officer 2: Whats in the bag?

Nick: You see

*Officer 1 grabs the bag and looks inside. Nick and Joe exchange nervous glances.*

Officer 1: Marijuana. Two of the Jonas brothers on drugs.

Joe: Its not for us! We were delivering it for someone!

Officer 1: Ha! Like we havent heard that one before! Up against the wall!

*Joe and Nick turn against the wall. Officer 2 searches them, while officer 1 makes a call on his radio.*

Officer 1: Car 34 here, we have an unusual case of smuggling marijuana. We have Joe and Nick Jonas caught with a what seems to be about 10 lbs of the drug.

*At the police station, they are receiving the call. Kevin is sitting on the bench, waiting. He has already filed the missing person report*

Radio: Repeat: Car 34 here, we have an unusual case of smuggling marijuana. We have Joe and Nick Jonas caught with a what seems to be a lunch bag full of the drug.

Kevin: No!

Officer at desk: *to radio* roger that, were sending cars 29 and 15 over. *to Kevin* Sorry, it looks as if your brothers were hiding something from you! Would you like me to send you with the cops going there, or would you prefer to go home?

Kevin: *voice breaking* Home, please.

*Kevin walks out of the police station and walks home in sadness. Meanwhile, the cop cars have arrived at the scene along with several news reporters. There is a crowd of people on the sidewalk, some carrying signs.*

Some people in crowd: Release Joe and Nick! Now!

Others: Shut up! Theyre druggies! Theyre going where they belong.

*The officers are handcuffing Joe and Nick. They have their faces toward the ground, trying to prevent the newspapers from getting good pictures.*

Nick: Joe?

Joe: Yeah Nick?

Nick: Ive read about prison.

Joe: And?

Nick: it aint fun!

Joe: Youve been sitting with Frankie while he watches Drake and Josh, havent you?

*Silence*

Nick: Your point?

*The boys are paraded through the crowd to the cop cars. Midway, Joe spots someone in the front. He stops walking and stares into Yvettes tear-filled eyes.*

Joe: Baby?

Yvette: I cant believe I loved a man like you!

*Takes off the necklace Joe gave her and puts it on the ground, then walks away. Joes eyes fill with tears as the officers lead him and Nick into the cars.*
