In this special concert on a 1931 guitar built by Hermann Hauser I, Frank Wallace plays traditional Segovia repertoire from de Falla to Villa Lobos, as well as his own Dreams on a Lullaby. The concert took place at the Brattleboro (VT) Art Museum as a tribute to Blanche Moyse in celebrating her 100th birthday. Segovia ordered a pair of guitars from Hauser in 1931, one for himself, and one for Blanche Moyse, then a young protege. The instrument in the video is hers, newly restored by Hermann Hauser III.

  • Unfortunately ,I think Mr. Wallace does not know how to get the best out of this guitar .For example ,he never plays tasto or over the soundhole. I suspect in other hands this guitar would sound magical.

  • @poupee58 Thank you for your respectful comments. Too often on YouTube negative comments are given with a spirit of offense. It would be nice to know more about you, nothing is given on your channel. I will say there is an extended section playing over the soundhole from 3:10 on as well as many other places. The mics were poorly placed as well and the guitar had significant action issues. BUT - I am happy to take your comment as a challenge to play better! Thanks for listening.

  • Love the improv over the folk song...happy new year Frank!
