  • hey bro i use a k/n oil filter it works better

  • @anthonypat05 Yea I switched to Wix filters. My local OReillys stocks them and they seat perfectly.

  • the reason so many people have tranny problems with these cars is cause the tranny gets to hot i would def. recommend you put a tranny cooler with a temp sensor and a fan and mount it in front of the A/C condensor. and put some good synthetic trans fluid in it and you will never have a problem with it again. just a tip to save you 2 grand in the future.

  • @cbr900rr919 The transmission in the post 03's runs on mineral type trans fluid. If you put anything different in there you will most likely be needing a new transmission. The stuff at the Range Rover dealers seems to be the cheapest. A few guys on the forums have used Castrol Multi import with good luck.

  • @cbr900rr919 The car already comes with a transmission cooler and I'm not really sure of all the people with transmission problems they must have pre-03s regular S types with the Ford trans that has issues. The R's have a pretty solid trans. I've rarely seen anyone with a problem with them on the boards. There is a great video posted on youtube for a tran filter and fluid replace for an XK8 which is the same trans that is an excellent write up for anyone looking for info on that.

  • Hey man! I love your jag. I'm actually going to pick an 03' s type r this week. Have you had any problems with yours? Are they pretty reliable? Thanks a ton!

  • @z06vette2009 Check out jaguarforums. com. There are some issues to look into. I havent had much go wrong with mine just basic prevenative maintenance so far.

  • also you can wet the filter put oil in it before you put it on that way the pressure rises faster. royal purple is a great oil for these cars. also k&n makes a great oil filter and has a nut on the end of it so its easy to uninstall. Mobil is alright but i would put a better synthetic in it than Mobil. red line or royal purple is good and has extended change intervals. also change tranny fluid with royal purple and install a tranny cooler. i put one on with a fan and full synthetic in whole car

  • thanks
