Tressa and I have just finished Week 1 of the Susan Garrett on-line course "The 5 minute Formula" and we are having a blast... The video shows the games we worked on today. I am VERY pleased with the results of the first week. TOnight at class she could reproduce all her new behavoirs and it even helped with her startline - (RZ was awesome for this). I can't wait to see what we're dooing tomorrow!

  • Awesome and fun games! However I'm assuming you are familiar with clicker training from Susan Garrett? Why not for example when you throw the low value reward then click as comes running when u call her for the high value reward. If u click that reinforcement zone when she is running towards u with drive I think she will be more aware of what she is doing right and what u realy like cuz u clicked! But either way it's still great!! You are very reinforcing :)

  • @nicolebodea Yes, I do Shape with the clicker, but Susan really wanted us to work without the clicker for the "Recall" series. I did bring out the clicker later to further solidify the RZ on the right sionce that was clearly the harder side for both of us. She understands both sides equally now and can move between them fluidly and without question as to which side is correct. Thanks for commenting!

  • I am more an obedience person than agility, but aren't you making things fuzzy by having 2 RZs?

  • @CavalierHandler - All lot of Obedience people (no offense, just the easiest way to group people) have a problem with rewarding the right side so much... and yes, if you don't take the time to train it right, it can get confusing for the dog. If trained properly, the dog will leran to get to RZ on the side that is presented by the handler until the handler gives a change cue (a cross). Thus eliminating the blind cross you see Tressa do in the video. I Need to reinforce the Right RZ more :)

  • Where is the online course i would love to take it with my dog, but i cannot seem to find an online course.

  • drive building i presume right?

  • I'm loving all of your videos. I'm using Susan Garrett's training style also and am getting loads of new ideas from you....thank you!

  • Hey great idea of using the food bowl to build enthusiasm and hey can I borrow your hallway! LOL

  • Thanks for posting this! I wanted to sign up for the class but couldn't this time - so I love seeing the games you are playing and how it is working! Tressa is doing a fantastic job!

  • These games look like such fun! I would be doing the course as well, except for the slight technicality of not having a dog yet. Hope Susan offers the course again -- I want to do it with my "future dog" so bad! Anyway, I *love* your videos, and am really happy to see you posting regularly again. Thanks!
