I've been using the ball for ten years now. I use it on along my spine to keep it mobile as I can't see my chiropractor often. Just use it with caution and listen to your body (good pain / bad pain). I've had many serious injuries (including ruptured disks, wait for healing on this one) and this has helped tremendously with scar tissue. I've been a massage therapist (Washington State License) for over 30 years and recommend it to my clients as it enables me to be more effective.

Hi, I hope that you see this since it's been awhile since the last comment. I have had 14 abdominal and pelvic operations and have a moderate case of adhesions and have had them numerous times. These are extremely painful.. I heard a rumor that this technique and ball can help me reduce the adhesions and ultimately help with the pain. Do you think this could really work for me?

@smathews2007 Hi. I would suggest you try it. Keep the ball soft to start. The gold ball is softer but large. The silver ball has replaced the red ball. Start slow. Be gentle. I am obliged to tell you to ask your doctor first. I am not giving you medical advice.

Hi John.
I'm a yoga teacher and have a student 80yo, yes 80 in pretty good physical shape but arthritis in his spine. Would this help him?
Thanks.

@igemini48 - hello- sorry for the delay. there's a yellow ball that is a little bigger and softer that i use on older folks.

Hi, John. I was a little surprised to hear you recommend body rolling along the spine (in addition to along either side of the spine) because in the book I have, Yamuna insists to NOT roll the spine itself but only to roll along either side of the spine. Please explain.

HI
thanks for your observation. not sure which book you got that from. On page 49 of the original Body Rolling book, which is more in depth and anatomically informative, she says: "Once you experience whatever release each side will give and then roll up the center, you will achieve a far deeper final release." Yamuna's work is pioneering, and constantly being tweaked. I encourage you to get the newer DVD's and/or take a class with a certified instructor who has been with Yamuna recently.
