I just use small ajusted dowels, chicken wire, and paper mache and it's been working for years

why use templates for the hill structures? Honest to God! I've been creating gaming scenery for years and there's nothing like approximating terrain relief and eyeballing it. Ultimately it gives you a much more natural, random appearance i.e; the way things are in nature. if something doesn't quite blend smoothly, fill it with filler and all other problems will be well covered by flocking, gravels, turf blends, trees and bushes etc...

when they did the hills if i was them i would have put a little bit of new paper over the track so that way it doesnt get lil peices of the foam in it or mask it off the whole time when your going this.
