I wish they would make a movie like this with real musicians acting once in a while because being a violinist and seeing the playing being faked just ruins the movie!

As a professional musician, I went into this movie with an opinion similar to yours. I did not expect to fooled into thinking that these very fine actors were actually playing. However their attempts really were laughable, I think anyone with no music background would see right through the faking. Unfortunately this limited what they could do with any scenes containing actual music in the movie, which should have been their biggest emotional and dramatic draw.

Because movies are more about acting than anything else. If you want real musicians, attend a concert. It's much better to a movie have professional actors faking playing, than professional musicians faking acting.

Ya I know, they were so stiff, but they had two months to learn, so for me they did alright. Since it takes like 2 years just to master the wrist movement, and sometimes more.
